What SkinPen Microneedling Treats

This Treatment is best for: skin with textural irregularities.

WHAT IT TREATS
ACNE SCARRING, INCLUDING ICE PICK, BOXCAR, OR ROLLING SCARS

POST-INFLAMMATORY PIGMENT (PIH) LEFT BEHIND BY BREAKOUTS

HYPERPIGMENTATION AND MELASMA

ROUGH OR UNEVEN SKIN TEXTURE

DULL TONE OR LACK OF RADIANCE

FINE LINES DUE TO COLLAGEN LOSS

HOW IT WORKS
SkinPen is a microneedling pen that creates tiny microchannels in the skin. These activate your body’s healing response and stimulate collagen production to rebuild smoother, stronger skin over time.

DOWNTIME:

Minimal. Mild redness for 24-48 hours, followed by 3-5 days of dryness or light flaking.

Customizing Your Treatment

We tailor each session to what your skin needs that day.

Targeted serums are infused during treatment to address active acne, lingering dark marks, or uneven skin tone.

For clients struggling with post-acne pigment, we may finish with a medical-grade retinol to create a light “baby peel” effect and speed up visible spot-clearing.

Is SkinPen Microneedling Right For You?

Microneedling is best for textured acne scars and uneven skin. Active breakouts are typically treated first with a chemical peel, while widespread brown pigment, melasma, and post-acne scarring often responds better to MOXI Laser or BBL treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the treatment like? What can I expect?

We’ll numb your skin for 30 minutes, then begin treatment with a sterile microneedling pen. You may feel light pressure and vibration, but the treatment is comfortable throughout. Expect mild redness for a day or two, then some minor flaking for 1-3 days. You’ll leave your appointment with a post-care plan that includes gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and clear skin instructions for the first 5-7 days.

What do I need to know about recovery and downtime?
  • After a microneedling treatment, it is essential to treat your skin like an open wound for the first 48 hours.
  • Use only a gentle cleanser and basic moisturizer for 5 to 7 days, and sleep on a clean pillowcase the first night.
  • Avoid hot tubs, heavy exercise, or other activities that may introduce bacteria to your skin for at least 48 hours.
  • You can expect 24-48 hours of redness, followed by a few days of dryness or light flaking. Most clients return to normal activities the next day, with makeup and workouts resuming after 48 hours.
How can I prepare for my appointment?
  • For two weeks before and after your treatment you will need to avoid waxing, lasers, or chemical peels. For a week prior, you will need to avoid active exfoliants and strong retinoids.

If you are prone to cold sores, please let us know two weeks beforehand so we can start an antiviral 48 hours before treatment.

What if I have cold sores?

If you are prone to cold sores, please let us know two weeks beforehand so we can start an antiviral treatment 48 hours before treatment.

How many sessions will I need?
  • For best results, we typically recommend a series of 3 microneedling sessions spaced 4 weeks apart.
  • For acne scarring, we typically recommend a series of 3 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart. More significant scarring may benefit from 4-6 sessions.
  • You’ll see clearer, smoother skin with each visit, as collagen continues to build in the months that follow.
Does microneedling work? Is microneedling worth it?
  • Yes. Clinical studies and real-world results both support microneedling as a proven way to reduce the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, and dull tone. Results build gradually, especially with multiple sessions.

If you’re looking to improve acne scarring, pigmentation, or overall skin tone with minimal downtime, microneedling is a smart investment. It’s often chosen by clients who want something more targeted than a facial, but not as intense as the MOXI laser treatment.

Does microneedling hurt?

We apply a medical-grade numbing cream before your session, so most clients feel only light pressure or vibration. Some experience mild sensitivity after treatment, similar to a sunburn.
