What Chemical Peels Treat
This Treatment is best for: skin that feels stuck in a cycle of breakouts or discoloration.
Chemical peels can improve the appearance of:
- Active acne that is not responding to facials alone
- Post-inflammatory marks left behind by breakouts
- Melasma and stubborn pigment
- Uneven tone and dark patches
- Congested, textured skin
Our Chemical Peels
Are Chemical Peels Right For You?
Chemical peels are best for active acne and surface pigment. Textured acne scarring responds better to SkinPen microneedling, while recurrent melasma is typically managed more effectively with MOXI laser treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the downtime of this treatment?
Peeling typically begins about 48 hours after treatment and lasts around 3 days. Skin will feel tight and look visibly flaky during that window. Most clients return to normal activities right away, but plan social events accordingly.
Do chemical peels help with acne?
Yes. A chemical peel for acne helps dry up active breakouts, reduce oil congestion, and fade the red or brown marks left behind. If you are stuck in a cycle of flaring acne despite regular facials or prescription topicals, a peel can help reset the skin so your home care works more effectively.
Do chemical peels help with melasma?
A chemical peel for melasma helps lift surface pigment and gradually lighten darker patches. Melasma is chronic and hormonally influenced, so treatment focuses on control, not cure. Peels are often paired with MOXI laser treatments for deeper pigment management and long-term maintenance, especially during the fall and winter when sun exposure is lower.
How much peeling can I expect?
With the Perfect Derma Peel, peeling does not start immediately. Most clients begin peeling about 48 hours later. Peeling ranges from light flaking to sheet-like peeling around the mouth and chin and lasts about 3 days. We often suggest scheduling midweek so peeling falls over the weekend.
Do chemical peels hurt?
During application, you may feel tingling or warmth for several minutes, but it is not painful. The peeling phase does not hurt, either, but the skin can feel tight and dry while it sheds.
How many treatments do I need?
- For acne or post-inflammatory pigment, most clients need 2 to 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. Melasma often requires a series followed by regular maintenance sessions.
- If you are preparing for an event, we recommend starting at least 8 to 12 weeks in advance.
Are chemical peels pregnancy-safe?
No. We do not perform medical-grade chemical peels during pregnancy due to the active ingredients used.
