Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect during my treatment?
Your appointment is quick and straightforward. You’ll lie comfortably while we treat the area in small sections. With the Sciton laser system, you’ll feel brief pulses of warmth with each pass, often described as a quick snap against the skin. Most areas take just minutes, and redness afterward looks similar to mild razor irritation and typically fades within a few hours.
How many sessions for laser hair removal?
Most clients need 6 to 8 sessions spaced several weeks apart because hair grows in cycles, and lasers only target hair in its active growth phase. Staying consistent with your appointments is essential to achieve your desired results. If sessions are spaced too far apart or the full series is not completed, you will not see the optimal long-term reduction you’re working towards.
When should I get laser hair removal?
- Fall and winter are ideal times to start. A full series of 6 to 8 sessions can take 6 to 9 months to complete, and treated skin should avoid significant sun exposure.
- Starting in the cooler months allows you to finish or nearly finish your series before summer lake days or sunny vacations.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Most clients describe it as tolerable but noticeable. Areas like the bikini or brazilian can feel more intense because the hair is thicker, while the legs and arms are typically very manageable. Each pulse is brief, and treatments move quickly, so any discomfort does not linger.
How does laser hair removal work?
The laser targets pigment within the hair follicle, damaging it in a controlled way so future growth is reduced. After each session, treated hairs shed naturally over the following weeks.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction. Some fine regrowth may occur over time, especially with hormonal changes, but most clients experience significant and lasting reduction. Occasional touch-up sessions (every few years) are normal after a full series.
Can laser hair removal help with PCOS-related facial hair?
Yes. Laser hair removal can significantly reduce coarse chin and upper lip hair caused by PCOS. Because PCOS is a hormone-driven condition, you may need maintenance sessions over time, but our PCOS clients experience meaningful reduction in thickness, density, and daily upkeep. If hormones are contributing to ongoing growth, we can also explore supportive care through our hormone balancing services.
Are there side effects of laser hair removal?
Temporary redness and mild swelling around the follicles are normal and usually resolve within a few hours. Serious side effects are rare when proper settings and safety protocols are followed.
